Rev. Heidi L. Edson, St. Luke's new rector, will be offering Mid-Week Eucharist and Adult Lenten Study weekly during Lent in Willard Hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 313 Main Street in Chester beginning Wednesday, February 25th. Short Mid-Week Eucharist begins at 9:30 am followed by the Study at 10:30 am. You are welcome to attend either one or both. Details on the church website calendar at www.stlukesepiscopalvt.org.

On Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015, State Entomologist Alan Graham, and Naturopathic Physician and Lyme Disease specialist, Dr. Alexis Chesney, will share their respective work as it relates to insect- and tick-borne diseases. Alan Graham will present the perspective of a scientist working in the field, particularly on mosquito management, and Dr. Chesney will offer her view of preventing, testing for, and treating Lyme Disease. There will be ample time devoted to answering questions from the audience.

Celebrated Vermont beekeeper Ross Conrad will host an Organic Beekeeping workshop on Saturday, March 14, from 9 AM to 1 PM. This workshop includes two highly-requested topics by local beekeepers: "Overwintering Bees and Spring Management" and "Beeswax: Production, Collection, Processing, and Uses". The event is presented by The Nature Museum at Grafton and will take place at NewsBank Conference Center at 352 Main Street in Chester, Vermont, across from the main NewsBank campus.

The Chester Beautification Committee thanks Green Mountain Union High School junior Lily Nader for answering its request for a student to create a line drawing of the Hearse House and Public Tomb. These two buildings flank the entrance to the Brookside Cemetery across from the Village Green in the center of Chester and are a cooperative project between the Chester Beautification Committee [CBC] and the Town of Chester.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Chester is pleased to announce the calling of its new Rector, The Rev. Heidi L. Edson. The Vestry voted her selection unanimously after a two-year search by the Ministry Discernment Committee working with the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont. Rev. Heidi's first Sunday at St. Luke's was January the 25th. The congregation gave her and her husband, Doug, a warm welcome that included a special reception for them both.

Pancake Day, Pancake Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday are all different ways of describing the day before Ash Wednesday when Lent begins. In New Orleans, the term Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting.

The 2015 LEGO Contest will once again take place again at the NewsBank Conference Center, 352 Main Street, Chester, VT 05143. Last year over 175 enthusiastic children and adults viewed fabulously different creations in that comfortable space generously donated by NewsBank, Inc. The event is open to the public and will be held 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 21. The $10 Early Bird pre-registration deadline is March 16.
