Kick Off To Summer Garden Party At The Grateful Garden, The School/Community Garden In Chester

posted Wednesday, June 20, 2012

On Tuesday, June 26 from 6pm to 8pm, get together with family, friends and neighbors for a potluck meal to celebrate summer and share tips for a bountiful growing season. Bring a potluck item, your own drinks, utensils and plates for your family, and celebrate our amazing community and have some good ole' fun & tasty food during this special time of the long daylight hours.

The Grateful Garden is managed by a Garden Committee and is maintained completely by kind community volunteers. Volunteers need no experience just a desire to share garden tasks. Every summer, we are looking for volunteers to lend a hand with simple weekly garden maintenance. One person, family or group shall volunteer to visit the Grateful Garden at least twice during their self-selected week to water, weed and watch. It's easy!

To sign up for your week, simply go to http://chesterandover.shutterfly.com/gratefulgardenblog to see the garden blog and sign up electronically (plus to check out amazing news & photos) or email Carrie King at [email protected]. Thank you! Also link to the VPR story that was broadcast recently about the Grateful Garden's recovery from Irene's flooding.

One of the summer volunteers visits should ideally be during the weekly Grateful Community Garden Evening to be held weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm during which time the weekly volunteer(s) will be shown the garden customs and routines. Each weekly garden rotation will begin on Tuesday and will finish the following Monday.

The Grateful Garden is located at 72 Main Street, at the Chester Andover Elementary School, to right of the wooden play structure.
