Order Bulbs Now to Light Up Chester in 2016

Chester Townscape is continuing its ongoing campaign to Light Up Chester by encouraging people to purchase beautiful daffodil bulbs to plant this fall in order to produce a burst of color in spring of 2016. This year's choice is the bright and perky Goblet. With a yellow trumpet and white petals, Goblet will coordinate perfectly with last year's King Alfred bulbs and provide additional interest and color.

Participants may plant bulbs on their own property, purchase bulbs to donate back to Chester Townscape [CT] for its volunteers to plant in various public places around town, donate money to CT to help with its beautification projects, or do a combination of all three. With enthusiastic support last year from individuals and businesses, CT volunteers planted 1800 daffodils along the cemetery wall opposite the Village Green. Those bulbs were followed by impatiens plants that bloomed all summer and augmented the many flower-filled planters that have been positioned around the town. The floral campaign - now seasonally adjusted with pumpkins, mums, and corn stalks - continues to beautify Chester and make it a lovely place to live and visit.

Orders for bulbs may be taken by any member of Chester Townscape or by contacting Carol Gilbert (802-875-1599). Order forms are available now on the bulletin board at the Whiting Library. Bulbs may also be purchased at the Fullerton Inn. All bulbs, along with planting instructions, may be picked up at the Front Desk of the Fullerton Inn on the Chester Green from Tuesday September 29 through Wednesday October 14 from 10 AM to 4 PM.

A mini-bag of six bulbs is $5.00... perfect for even young children or grandchildren to plant! A regular bag of 12 bulbs is $10.00. For larger, more brilliant displays, participants can become a 40-Watt Donor (48 bulbs for $40), a 60-Watt Donor (72 bulbs for $60), or a 100-Watt Donor (120 bulbs for $100). Proceeds from the bulb sale will help fund CT's growing list of enhancement projects and add to the appeal and character of the town for those who live, work, or do business here.
