Wrestling Gets Colorful With 5K "Color Gauntlet" Fun Run
The Springfield, VT wrestling team is working hard to raise $10,000 for new wrestling mats. About half-way there already with monies raised from spaghetti suppers and tournament fees, the team is hosting a new kind of fundraiser this summer: The Color Gauntlet. A roughly 5K untimed round-trip fun-run or walk, the Gauntlet takes place on Saturday, August 29th on the Toonerville Trail recreation path in Springfield, parallel with the Black River on one side and Clinton St (Rte 11) on the other.
Pre-register by August 7th for just $25 either online at active.com (use search term "Color Gauntlet" in Springfield, VT) or in person at the Edgar May Rec Center at 140 Clinton Street in Springfield, VT. After August 7th, the price goes up to $35, up to and including race-day. Kids of all ages are welcome (10 & under are free), but please leave the family dog at home.
The race kicks off at 9AM and wraps up by 12 noon, with lunch available for purchase at the finish line courtesy of The Silver Bullet. The Bullet will donate 10% of the race proceeds to the team, and will match the final amount.
The registration fee includes a free event t-shirt (white with the event logo, so you can get squirted with colored powder!), a pouch of color to participate in the "powder party" at the finish line, and more.
If your business or community organization is interested in sponsoring the Gauntlet, your logo will appear on the back of our shirts; please contact event organizer Angela Ferland by August 7th to make arrangements.
