Vermont Dept. of Forests, Parks, and Recreation Forest Pest Meeting

posted Monday, July 1, 2013

This is to pass along notice of an informational meeting about the anticipated forest pest invasions in Vermont. These pests include the hemlock woolly adelgid, emerald ash borer, and Asian longhorn beetle. The hemlock woolly adelgid is already here in Vermont and both the emerald ash borer and the Asian longhorned beetle are knocking at the door.

On Tuesday, July 2 at 7:00 pm at the Townshend Town Hall, the Vermont Dept. of Forests, Parks, and Recreation together with the University of Vermont Extension will present facts about the emerald ash borer, hemlock woolly adelgid, and asian longhorn beetle and offer guidance for developing a forest pest preparedness plan for individual landowners as well as communities. You can read more about the planning for these insects at www.vtinvasives.org/tree-pests/community-preparedness.

I realize this is short notice, especially for this busy time of year. If you or others you know would be interested in attending this same presentation here in Chester given a bit more notice, please let me know. If there is enough interest, I will arrange a time and meeting place.
