GRAFTON, VT - The Nature Museum invites preschoolers to join the Mighty Acorns Club. Every month throughout the school year, our environmental educator will take young adventurers on a voyage of discovery. From September to June on the second Friday of each month, fun activities for budding naturalists will take place in the Museum's interactive indoor space as well in its wildlife garden, woods, fields, and pond.

"Exploring Nature Fairy-style" is the theme for the first Mighty Acorns Club session on Friday, September 8 from 10-11:30 a.m. This program fosters imagination and creativity and encourages children to observe the small wonders of nature. Club attendees will go on a treasure hunt for natural materials to build a fairy park and come away with a new awareness of their natural surroundings. Let your curious kids spread their wings as we enjoy a fun story, a walk in the woods, and a fairy building adventure.

"Fantastic Fall: Falling Temperatures, Leaves, Apples, and More!" is scheduled for Friday, October 13 from 10-11:30 a.m. This program explores the many fall changes that take place in our fields, gardens, orchards, and woodlands. Youngsters will learn why Fall is a special time for plants and animals that call New England home. They'll taste delicious, local apple cider, go on an outdoor scavenger hunt, and learn the many secrets of our changing world.

Mighty Acorns Club takes place both indoors and outdoors unless the weather is unsafe (e.g. thunder/lightning, high winds, extreme cold). If unsafe weather happens we will enjoy a fun alternative indoor activity. Please make sure that you and your mighty acorn(s) are dressed for whatever the weather has in store.

Drops-ins are always welcome. Drop in program cost is $8 per child. Program cost is $5 per child if registered in advance on our website. Caregivers always free. Pre-registration is not required but doing so will save you money. On Mighty Acorns Club dates the Museum will be open until 4 p.m. We invite you to pack a picnic and stay awhile. Hike on the Grafton Village Park trails behind the museum or borrow and explore with one of our Adventure Backpacks.
