Green Mountain Union HS Nature Trail
Saturday, July 15th, 2017

The Chester Conservation Committee (CCC) is seeking volunteers to assist in the building of three new wooden footbridges on the Green Mountain Union HS Nature Trail on Saturday, July 15th starting at 8:30am.

The GMUHS Nature Trail is located behind Green Mountain HS off of Rt. 103S. The entrance to the HS is located next to the Heritage Deli and across the street from the American Legion. Bear left at the top of the driveway and circle around the school to park in the rear near the soccer field and track. Volunteers will be assembling there starting at 8:15am.

If you arrive later, please come up the trail and find us. The trailhead can be found by crossing the narrow, wooden footbridge past the lower soccer field and turning left into the woods at the trail sign. The bridge sites are approximately a 1/3 of a mile up the trail.

The work will include moving and positioning the bridge sills and stringers, nailing on the decking and building up the earthen approach ramps. The bridges are 16' in length.

Please dress appropriately with proper work shoes/hiking boots, work gloves, bug spray, etc. Bring water, snacks and/or lunch. Come late or leave early, all are encouraged to help for as much time as you can.
